Madrid, 19 October 2026. Helexia and Alcampo are strengthening their partnership in Spain with 20 photovoltaic projects now operational across Alcampo sites. Developed at different locations throughout the country, the installations have a combined installed capacity of 12 MWp and generate 16 GWh of renewable energy annually.

The partnership, which began in 2024, has evolved from its first projects into a portfolio combining rooftop solar self-consumption installations and solar carports, tailored to the characteristics and needs of each site. Together, the 20 projects avoid approximately 1,752 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year, helping to reduce the environmental impact associated with the sites’ energy consumption.

The evolution of the partnership is also reflected in several flagship projects. Alcampo Teruel was the first installation developed jointly, while Alcampo Utebo introduced the partnership’s first solar carport project. Alcampo Sant Boi hosts the largest rooftop installation, while Alcampo Telde, with 1.47 MWp of installed capacity and estimated annual production of 2,347 MWh, is the largest of the 20 projects developed to date. Given its scale and characteristics, Telde also ranks among the largest solar carport projects in Gran Canaria. Alcampo Tudela and Alcampo Alcorcón are the most recently commissioned projects.

This deployment reflects an evolution in the way energy management is approached across Alcampo’s sites. In a context shaped by the electrification of energy consumption, evolving energy prices and the need to optimise resources, energy flexibility is becoming increasingly important. It enables generation and consumption to be adapted to the needs of each site, supporting the transition towards more efficient and competitive energy models.

Under this partnership model, Helexia develops, builds, finances and operates the projects, enabling Alcampo to access renewable energy through models such as Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs). These agreements provide access to energy at a competitive price and, for certain projects, at a lower cost than electricity purchased from the grid, while providing greater predictability and stability in energy costs.

“Reaching 20 operational projects with Alcampo, financed by Helexia, represents an important milestone for Helexia and demonstrates the value of building long-term energy partnerships. We have evolved from developing individual projects to establishing a renewable energy portfolio across 20 sites. The next step is to continue integrating this generation into increasingly flexible and intelligent energy management, helping our customers optimise their resources, improve efficiency and strengthen their competitiveness,”

says Etienne Le Pargneux, CEO of Helexia Spain.

Patricia Castellote, National Maintenance and Energy Director at Alcampo, adds:

“At Alcampo, we have been working for years to improve our energy efficiency and reduce our carbon footprint. In 2018, we took an important step by starting to consume electricity backed by renewable guarantees of origin. Since then, we have continued to move forward, also incorporating self-consumption solutions to generate energy directly at our own sites. As part of this journey, our partnership with Helexia has enabled us to bring 20 photovoltaic projects into operation, and we will continue working together to build on this progress. Because the energy transition is built step by step, with a long-term vision and with partners who help us turn it into reality.”

Four new projects are currently under construction, with further initiatives planned to continue expanding renewable energy generation across Alcampo’s sites.

For Helexia, this partnership is part of a broader vision of energy that goes beyond renewable generation. By developing solutions tailored to the specific needs of each site, the company aims to“Turn Energy into Value”, supporting its customers in optimising their energy resources and reducing their environmental footprint.
