Helexia, a company specialized in the development and management of energy efficiency and solar self-consumption projects and part of the Voltalia Group, has successfully completed the installation of a rooftop solar photovoltaic plant at the Alcampo Calatayud store, located in the province of Zaragoza, Spain.
The new installation comprises a total of 694 photovoltaic modules with an installed capacity of 420 kWp. The system features a technical design specifically developed to maximize the available rooftop space, enabling efficient solar energy generation without affecting the store’s day-to-day operations.
In terms of environmental impact and energy efficiency, the installation is designed to generate approximately 566 MWh of renewable electricity annually.
Since July 2018, 100% of the electricity consumed by Alcampo has come from renewable sources certified with Guarantees of Origin, and since 2023 the company has been further advancing its sustainability strategy by generating its own renewable energy. Alcampo has published its carbon footprint annually since 2010. The company’s emissions reporting is certified under the ISO 14064 standard and can be consulted on its corporate website.
With this project in Calatayud, Alcampo now reaches 17 operational photovoltaic installations across its sites in Spain. Of these, six are in Aragón, the autonomous community where the company currently has the largest number of self-consumption projects developed together with Helexia. To date, Alcampo has installed a total of 17,184 solar modules across its facilities.
