Both companies continue to advance their decarbonisation efforts in the retail sector with a 450 kWp solar installation designed for self-consumption and energy efficiency.
Helexia, a leading company in the development and management of energy efficiency and solar self-consumption projects within the Voltalia Group, has successfully completed a new rooftop photovoltaic installation at Alcampo Alcorcón.
The commissioning of the plant is part of the comprehensive renovation of the hypermarket, inaugurated on 19 October with the participation of Candelaria Testa Romero, Mayor of Alcorcón, José Troncoso, Director of Alcampo Alcorcón, and Etienne Le Pargneux, CEO of Helexia Spain.
The installation includes 744 photovoltaic modules with a total installed capacity of 450 kWp. Designed to maximise the available rooftop area, the system will generate approximately 603 MWh of renewable electricity per year, covering around 16.7% of the site’s energy needs. This production will help avoid approximately 62 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.
The Alcorcón project is part of the ongoing collaboration between Helexia and Alcampo to expand photovoltaic self-consumption across the retailer’s facilities. Through these initiatives, both companies aim to increase on-site renewable energy generation, optimise energy consumption, and reduce emissions associated with their operations.
Helexia and Alcampo: a partnership driving sustainable self-consumption
The partnership between Helexia and Alcampo is built on delivering tailored solutions that transform energy challenges into tangible business results. With the commissioning of the Alcorcón plant, Alcampo now operates 19 photovoltaic installations in Spain developed together with Helexia, further reinforcing its commitment to self-consumption as a pathway to improved energy efficiency, lower emissions, and the decarbonisation of its activities.
Commenting on the project, Etienne Le Pargneux, country director of Helexia Spain, said:
“When a customer like Alcampo continues to trust us project after project, it demonstrates the strength of our partnership and the value we bring to its business. With this new plant in Alcorcón, we are helping reduce emissions while optimising energy costs. At Helexia, we support our customers with solutions tailored to their needs, working side by side with them to advance towards a more efficient and sustainable energy model and turn energy into value.”
Helexia continues to develop solar solutions for large retail facilities, helping companies achieve measurable reductions in both operating costs and carbon emissions.
