The new 1.76 MWp solar installation marks an important step towards greater sustainability and energy independence at NTN’s ICSA S.p.A. plant, supporting the NTN Group’s decarbonisation journey.
San Benigno Canavese (Turin, Italy) – NTN today inaugurates the solar installation at its ICSA S.p.A. plant in San Benigno Canavese, developed in partnership with Helexia, an international company specialising in energy transition solutions for the industrial sector.
With a total installed capacity of 1.76 MWp, the installation represents a significant project within the NTN Group’s sustainability plan and will help meet over 30% of the production site’s energy needs. The ground-mounted installation features solar trackers and bifacial photovoltaic modules, technologies designed to optimise sunlight capture and maximise energy generation. With an estimated annual output of approximately 2.93 GWh, the project was developed through a partnership model that supports the wider adoption of clean energy across the industrial sector.
The project will also make a tangible contribution to the NTN Group’s target of reducing Scope 2 emissions by 50% by 2030.
Through the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) model, Helexia funded the entire investment, enabling NTN to access renewable energy from the outset with no upfront costs and on competitive commercial terms. NTN, in turn, provided its own land designated for industrial use. This approach combines sustainability and efficiency, delivering tangible long-term benefits: over the next 15 years, the project is expected to generate savings of more than €3 million and avoid approximately 661 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year.
Fabio Brai, Deputy General Manager Finance & Operations at ICSA S.p.A., commented:
“The inauguration of this installation marks a tangible step in NTN’s energy transition journey. We believe sustainability and industrial innovation must go hand in hand: generating a significant share of the energy our plant needs directly on site means reducing our environmental impact while strengthening the site’s energy independence and competitiveness. Our collaboration with Helexia has enabled us to turn these objectives into a concrete project, delivering measurable, long-term benefits.”
Luis Pinho, Group Head of Operations at Helexia, commented:
“We are proud to celebrate with NTN Europe a project that demonstrates how the energy transition can deliver tangible value for industry. Generating renewable energy directly at production sites means reducing emissions, increasing energy independence and supporting business competitiveness. Our role is to guide companies such as NTN through this journey, providing expertise, investment and solutions that deliver long-term environmental and economic benefits.”

ICSA S.p.A. is the Italian company of the NTN Group and is dedicated to the production of Spherical Roller Bearings. Based in northern Italy near the city of Turin, this plant has undergone many important technological transformations in recent years.
Founded in 1972, the plant, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2022, now employs around 180 people to produce bearings for the European and American industrial markets. Thanks to the €14.5 million invested in new technologies and in the digitisation of processes, the ICSA plant has obtained the Italian “Transition 4.0” brand. Modernisations carried out include improving product quality and automating machines to increase efficiency and speed up flow.
