As Helexia continues to scale across increasingly complex energy projects, operations play a critical role in ensuring quality, alignment, and long-term performance.
In this interview, Francisco Ramos Pinto, COO of Helexia Portugal, shares his perspective on operational leadership, team alignment, execution culture, and the importance of building scalable operations that support both business growth and the energy transition.
How do you ensure the company’s strategic vision is consistently translated into concrete day‑to‑day operational decisions?
For me, it comes down to alignment and clarity. We make sure that commercial, engineering, and operations are always working in sync, with a shared understanding of what we’re trying to achieve. At the end of the day, our focus is simple: develop solid, high-quality projects that deliver reliable returns with controlled risk. That only happens when teams are closely connected and decisions are guided by clear strategic priorities, while actively supporting the energy transition within the industrial sector.
At Helexia’s current stage of growth, why is the role of Operations critical, and where do you focus your efforts to create the greatest impact?
At our current stage, having a 360º operational view, across commercial, engineering, and execution, is critical. It ensures that what we develop and promise is what we consistently deliver. My focus is on building a structured, autonomous, and efficient operation that scales intelligently while maintaining quality and reliability.
How do you work with teams to drive alignment, accountability, and consistent execution across operations?
I believe a lot in being close to the teams. Being present, involved in key moments, and not just when things go well. It’s about building trust, encouraging people to take ownership, and giving them the space to act. At the same time, recognizing effort and results goes a long way in creating a strong and committed team.
What drives you in your role at Helexia, and what responsibility do you feel as COO in enabling teams to deliver impact through operations?
What really motivates me is seeing ideas turn into real projects that make a difference for our clients, for the company, and for the people involved. As COO, I see my role as making sure everything connects well: from the initial opportunity to the final delivery. When that alignment exists, teams can really perform and create meaningful impact.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time to relax and recharge your energy?
I like to keep things simple: spending time with family and friends, travelling, and staying active, especially through Hyrox, which has become a big passion of mine.
That balance helps me disconnect, recharge, and come back with fresh energy.
